The apparel industry is comprised of many different things. Its main focus used to be momma and poppa stores as well as weekend flea markets in the various cities across the country. People would leave their homes and come to the streets in order to take a look at the latest fashions and perhaps purchase some new clothing.
Random stores on the edges of town would be filled with customers because they offered interesting and attractive items. Stores would paint their interiors with all kinds of paints and other materials, which would bring more traffic to them also.
However, as time progressed, the popularity of flea markets had died down, and the traffic that flea markets as well as mom and pops stores once saw had decreased significantly. American shoppers shifted their shopping focus towards the new and developing phenomenon called a mall.
Shopping malls had taken America by storm, and a new shopping mall always managed to make its way into everyone’s local neighborhood. These malls were the cause of many store closings because of the business that they took away from store owners.
